Way Behind… but that’s okay.
Been a busy week, what with all the sleeping, Vicodin, and, actually, going to work. Wednesday was absolutely exhausting, as it was a return to both work, and a meeting that night regarding the possibility of shooting some direct-to-dvd movies here in Houston (at the same place I intern). No writing was accomplished Wednesday, although I managed to get about half the confrontation scene (aka, the second to last on the one I’ve been concentrating on thus far for the month) done Thursday, despite running around all over town that day. Today I napped after work, and after a hillarious 200th episode of SG-1, and a rather mediocre Atlantis episode, I was inspired, and started off again. I have finally managed to get that scene finished now (at seven pages, that’s a long scene!)
Now all I have to do is finish the story off (only one more scene that I really can think of), and send it off to Gayle for another round of beta’ing. I think I’ll leave Linda alone this time around as this one’s even longer than the bounty hunter fic, poor girl. I’ll do some real editing on it when August ends, and force myself to concentrate on writing for the rest of the month, maybe see if I can pull off a miracle and reach 30,000 by the end of the month.
Stupid teeth and early laziness have put me way behind. As I write this I’m at 11,600 words. Good news is that Monday I finish off the rest of my antibiotics, and hopefully by next Friday I’ll be eating solid foods again. So hopefully that means I can focus on writing instead of recovery at that point. After I finish this story (hopefully tomorrow), I’ve got two stories I can write on, and it’s hard to decide which to work on. I might alternate between the two, but focusing on just this one has forced me to finish it off (which is good!)
I’d really like to finish off last November’s WriMo before this November hits, but that might be a tall order, since the story gets more and more complicated (and thus longer) as time goes by. I will prevail though! I have had some ideas to try and work around the little corner and rut I had written myself into (and bring some much needed action back into the McKay/Sheppard storyline). I’m also tempted to start writing on the modern-day part of the story, just so I can have an idea on what’s going on each place.
I also could work on the POV story I started (which would actually eventually result in a series, sort of like my Bonanza POV series), I guess it depends on what mood strikes me when I finish. Either one has plenty of story left in it to take me to my goal for the month.
With that thought, I’ve decided to sign off, until next time!
Oh that’s write, I was going to include an excerpt. Still haven’t fixed the coding so it’s got that strange yellow color (okay, I lie, it’s peach) on the indents… ah well. I’ll fix it eventually.
With the main action over Sheppard sidled down next to McKay to wait for the cavalry. He gave the unconscious scientist a sidelong glance as he idly picked out crystal shards from his feet.
“I promise you, I’m not going to let you live this down.”
“Do not think you have monopoly on black mail,” Zelenka piped up as he returned to the device to finish disassembling it.
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll let you guys have a few pot shots too,” he flicked one of the tiny splinters away, wincing as he spotted a tiny fleck of red. He covered it up with a finger, hoping Beckett hadn’t noticed. He had no desire to be wheeled across half of Atlantis in a wheelchair. He looked up as the Scot cleared his throat loudly.
“By the way, Major,” Carson tried to hide a smile behind his hand, “where are your pants?”
John groaned miserably, turning to glare at the slumbering scientist. “Never living this down!”
